Game Vision Statement

Hey there,
Just here to talk about my game vision statement. The game genre i was going for is like a platform game. My gameplay was going to be where the player spawns on a platform, the player must then jump to the next platform and land on it, if they don't they instantly die from touching the lava. I was thinking of adding that the player will collect a coin or something to buy different types of maps or maybe some different types of outfits.

For my games resources i was thinking of having 5-10 different levels all the levels will have a different themes to them, like one level could be a classroom and another could be a house where you start in the kitchen and you need to make it to the roof. This is a link to a similar game The floor is lava.

  1. Hi Michael
I really like your game idea as it gives me a real retro Mario game vibes. I especially like the Idea of collecting coins in order to unlock new maps/levels as this gives the users/players incentive to play on to unlock more things as well as replay previous levels adding the factor of replay-ability to the game . I am looking forward to seeing how you pursue in the future. all the best

  2. Hey Mikey!

Great idea! This really brings me back to my childhood where I played floor is Lava on my poor mam's sofa's. I like how you used the example of another unity game-i played some of it and it was really good. I really like your idea about collecting coins to do add-ons throughout your game. This could be really addictive!

Have you decided what resources you are going to use for your game? I'd love to know how your going to make this game. How will you create the levels and rooms?

One suggestion for a resource to look at is the Unity Game Tutorials on their website they are really easy to follow and im sure if you doing a game similar to the unity one you could find one suited to your game!

    Great work all the same!
    Cant wait to play!

  3. Hi Mikey
I really like this idea for your game it sounds fun. A platforming game is always a fun type game to make and to play. Platforming games are games that are simple, but you can also do so much with them. I also like the idea of the floor being lava it reminds me of childhood.
So, have thought about putting any enemies to the game that you kill by jumping on them like in Super Mario. Do you know how many outfits there will be in the game and if they will add abilities to you character.
I think you should give the character you play as certain gadgets like a grappling hook so you can get up to higher places. I’m just confused about that do you need to collect all the coins on a level to get to the next or just a certain amount.
Overall, I liked this idea for a game.

  4. Hi Michael, your game sounds great! I am also doing a plat form game so I am excited to see yours and play it. The idea of your game is really good as it is a game that I think a lot of people would like. It seems fun and different. Have you considered having any obstacles in your game? Maybe such as collecting coins or having fire in your way and you have to avoid it, just an idea. The idea of having a different theme is really cool and it will be visually appealing but it could be very difficult to have a different theme for each level. There are a few Jimmy Vegas tutorials on designing different themes. All in all I feel that you know yourself what you want your game to look like which is great and you seem to know where your going with it. Best of luck and I cant wait to play it :)

  5. Hi Michael,

I really like the idea that you have!

I know what the trend 'the floor is lava' is, but I've never heard of an actual game dedicated to it, it would definitely be popular due to the trend factor behind the game, so it's a very good choice to go with, in that sense.

What do you think of a level difficulty ranking? So, as you said, you want some levels on different terrains so what if you had certain terrains be more difficult than others? I'm not a pro at unity but to me, the collection of coins for a 'store' to purchase outfits and terrains seems very advanced so I have no idea if we are skilled enough for that, so maybe something simpler like my suggestion could be not only more achievable, but it also encourages players to keep on playing to beat the levels.

I can't wait to see more of your development!

  6. Hi Micheal,

I really like your game idea.

I'm guessing that you were inspire by Mario ? Mario Galaxy 1 maybe ? Either way it sounds like it will be fun and that's the important bit. I like the idea of collecting coins to buy more maps but how does someone win the game ?

Anyway I can't wait to see how your game turns out and read your blog again in the future.
