Game Brainstorm

Hey there,
Just here to give 4 possible game ideas that I could be making over the next few weeks for my own game. The process of thinking of any game is not an easy task for anyone. There are things like what kind of genre do I pick?, how many characters are going to be in the game or even where is it going to be set. My favourite genre would have to be either shooters or sports games like Call of Duty. But at the moment my favourite game would be Mario Kart.

So for my first game idea is where there will be either 5-10 levels, each level harder than the next. But the levels will have objectives like having to collect a certain thing like a coin or something but the special item wont be easy to get because there will barriers in the way that can kill you causing re-start the level. Each level will also have a different background, maybe i'll try having moving objects in the background. A game also needs sound effects, like when you collect the item you need to pass the level. It needs to have background music (non copyright music obviously). I got my game idea from Subway surfers.

For my second game idea I was thinking about a game where the gamer can race. This would be an offline game. So this would a game with 10 levels, each level would be placed in the most popular cities in the world. Each level you will be racing against 5 other player characters designed by me, each level the characters would get even harder to race against and you can collect bonuses through each level. I almost forgot to mention that there would be like obstacle that you will have to avoid.

For my third game idea I was thinking about doing an shooter game. This game will be a game where theres a character who has to kill people that are trying to kill the main character, each level there will be more killers causing the game to get harder as it goes on. The more coins you collect the better guns you can buy in the store. This where i did my research https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVePJ7x2XsU.

To be honest for my forth game i am struggling to come up with an idea that hasn't been already brought out or even thought of or even an idea that will be too difficult to create at my skill level. But i was thinking of like a fighter game. There is two fighters in the ring and they keep punching each other until one gets knocked out. Each fight you will the opponent gets harder.

  1. Hello Michael, I must saw wow, I really like your game ideas that you have presented here. I must say though, your first game idea involving the item collecting and avoiding the barriers is really interesting and sparks a lot of creativity and thinking needed to navigate your way around the task set out. Personally, I feel this is a game that will really spark a lot of positive response for your players. I have to wonder about your racing game though, does the game require the player to win all the races? Does the player get points rewarded over the course of all the levels being played out and the ones with the highest points going through? I think its a fine idea, but the fact the game doesn't make it clear about if the player needs to come first or not makes it hard to follow. What if, for the boxing game you had the players who all had different statistical advantages over the other and could specify to that players playing style? Some of them could be faster than others but may not hit as hard, or some are slower but can deliver stronger punches to the opponent.

I loved ready your blog and the layout of your blog was very good and made it very easy to follow what you wrote. Your game ideas are very creative and all look very good. My favourite game idea is the first one that involved collecting items and avoiding obstacles, and it seems like a game that I would actual play in my spare time. I wish you luck with the rest of the semester and hope everything goes well.
