Game Fun

Hey Blog,
Just here to talk about the readings i just read like I have done for the past 7 weeks. The first readings I read was from the Kinds of Fun. It starts off with a list in the readings and the first one was 'Sensation'. It says that games can engage the senses directly. Another one on the list was 'Fantasy' it basically says that a game can have a virtual world which can be in some cases known to be better than real life. There's others on the list like  the following: Narrative, Challenge, Fellowship, Discovery, Expression and finally submission. These are needed to make a fun game.

Other reading was from Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades: Players Who Suit MUDs, by Richard Bartle. It goes on to say that there are four approaches to playing MUDs are identified. The approaches  rise from the inter-relationship of two dimensions of playing style : action versus interactions and world oriented versus player-oriented.

The third one was on MDA Framework. It starts out by saying that they're presenting the MDA framework in this document. It says that it was developed and taught as part of game design and tuning workshop at the game developers conference in San Jose 2001-2004.The MDA is the formal approach to understanding games which attempts to bridge the gap between game design and development.
